Hydro Hybridization 2026

Wann? / Quand ?
30. Juin 26 - 1. Juil 26
Ganztägig / Toute la journée

It has never been clearer than at present that renewable-led energy systems fundamentally strengthen energy security and independence. No form of renewable energy should be overlooked, and hybridization maximizes the use of these clean, free and inexhaustible resources.

In that context, experts will come together from Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas to discuss technical, economic and environmental aspects of hybrid renewable energy (RE) schemes, with a substantial focus on floating solar PV. A strong focus will be on innovation, efficiency and safety.

Underpinning the discussions will be the fundamental benefits of developing RE resources to the maximum extent, to ensure energy independence and security for individual nations, and global sustainability. Many of the developing countries with the greatest need for low-cost electricity have enormous solar and wind power resources as well as large reservoirs and waterways. Some, for example in North Africa, have the major problem of reservoir evaporation during summer months, and floating solar panels can reduce water losses by around 30 per cent. The conference aims to move policies and plans forward into urgently needed projects.

These are just a few of many reasons to join the discussions in Porto on 30 June and 1 July, whether as a speaker, panellist, delegate or exhibitor. The conference will be co-hosted by ICOLD and Aqua-Media International. Technical sessions will be complemented by social networking opportunities, and followed by an option to visit EDP’s unique FPV open test laboratory at the Alto Rabagão reservoir.

The forum is organized by Aqua~Media International (Hydropower & Dams), In partnership with ICOLD. It takes place in Porto (Portugal).
